Quality castings start with the tooling
- Tooling sourced through audited UK and Far East suppliers
- Design advice from initial concept onward
- Tools engineered for our own gravity and HPDC lines
- Built to run economically at your required volumes
We design and specify every tool ourselves, then have it built through a network of audited suppliers across the UK and Far East, engineered around what our own casting and machining lines can actually run economically — not a generic spec handed over with no route back to us. That keeps the tool, the casting process and the finishing work all pulling in the same direction from day one.
We offer design advice from the earliest concept stage, helping you settle on a part design and process route that keeps tooling cost proportionate to your volumes, before a single tool is cut.
Design for Manufacture
Before any tool is cut, we review the part against DFM — design for manufacture — principles. The aim is simple: make sure the casting can actually be made successfully, and in the most economical way, before cost is committed to steel.
This is part of the design advice we offer from the earliest concept stage, working alongside our audited tooling suppliers so changes get made on paper, not after a tool is already built.
Wall thickness & section changes
Checked to avoid porosity, sink marks and uneven cooling.
Draft angles
Enough draft to release the part cleanly from the tool, every cycle.
Parting lines & gating
Positioned to fill the part reliably and keep flash and finishing to a minimum.
Tolerance & machining allowance
Reviewed so as-cast tolerances and machining stock line up with what's actually needed.
How a tooling project runs
Design advice
We review your part and advise on the design and process route that suits your volumes.
Tool design
Tooling is designed in-house, matched to gravity or HPDC as the part requires.
Build
Tools are built through our audited UK and Far East supplier network, ready to run on our own casting lines.
Trial & sign-off
First-off castings are run and checked before full production begins.
Quality You Can Rely On
Full batch traceability and barcode-scanned route cards, backed by a robust system built for the paper trail hazardous castings require — all under ISO 9001 certification.
